Coulée verte - Parc de Sceaux   -   13k

Hello Walkers,

As a short option for next Wednesday, I propose a 13km walk along the Coulée verte, located south of Paris.
Created in the 1980s when the TGV Atlantique was built, the space above and alongside the rail-road line was transformed into a green ribbon for hikers and cyclists.
We'll start at Châtillon then follow the track through Bagneux, Fontenay aux Roses, Sceaux with a detour to Parc de Sceaux where we'll have a look on the Château then we'll picnic under cherry trees. I hope the weather will permit us to sit on the carpet of petals, since the blossoming has just ended, sorry.
After lunch (it will be 9km), you can take RER B at the nearby station Croix de Berny, zone 3, frequent trains to Paris.
Otherwise we'll go on along the Coulée Verte passing through Châtenay then Antony to Massy-Verrières.

Getting there:

Take the Metro line 13 that passes through Gare St. Lazare and Gare Montparnasse direction Chatillon-Montrouge.
Get off at Châtillon-Montrouge, take Sortie Châtillon (on right) where I will wait for you. RV at 10am.

Return on the RER B or C from  station Massy Verrières (zone 4), trains every 15 minutes.

Looking forward to seeing you,

Dominika

NB: Meeting point is at/on the platform, those who wish to travel together usually sit in
the rear car.

Advice to hikers / Conseils aux randonneurs:
Make sure that you are covered by a personal accident and liability insurance, that you are fit enough
to do the walk, and have the proper equipment / Assurez-vous que vous êtes couvert par une assurance responsabilité civile, que vous avez la condition physique nécessaire pour faire la randonnée choisie et que vous avez l’équipement adapté.

Longer walk

Parmain - Nesle  -   about 23 k

To give Daniel R. a bit of a break, I will lead the walk this week, with his help still, to make sure we take the nicest way back to the station.

We will walk in a loop from Parmain. Varied landscape and terrain. Estimated cumulative elevation gain: about 450m.
Wear good footwear. Bring a picnic lunch, snacks and enough water.

Getting there:

We will aim to take an early train not to finish too late but also in case of problems due to the SNCF strike ending in the morning, this will allow us to take a later train if need be.

Zone 5 (regular return fare, 14.20€).  I will meet you at Gare du Nord by the platforms, we will sit at the rear end (or a little bit farther down if the train is full). If you are not familiar with Gare du Nord, arrive early enough to make your way through the maze there.

-Return trains from l’Isle Adam-Parmain : direct trains at 16.39 (arr:17.29); 17:09 (arr: 17.59); 17:39 (arr: 18.29)
.There are other frequent trains that are not direct (1h 05 min).

See you on Wednesday!

Laurence

Hike for 18 April

St Rémy   -   about 20 k

Dear Walkers,

this week Daniel R. will lead the hike in beautiful Vallée de Chevreuse again because of the SNCF strike.
We will walk at a steady pace to arrive early enough at the train station.

As usual, take a picnic lunch, bring enough water as it will be over 20°C in the sun, and of course, shoes and clothing adapted to the season, there may still be some mud.

Getting there:

RER B “PLAC”to St Rémy les Chevreuses, Station Châtelet-Les Halles at 8.53
(next trains 9.08, 9.23) Meeting point: on the platform, rear end of the train.
We can catch the next trains in case of a problem with the first one. Daniel will drive and meet up with us in St Rémy.

Return from the same station  15:52, 16:07, 16:22… return ticket, full fare= 10.40€

Because of the national rail strike, I will confirm the exact time for the train Tuesday ON THE BLOG.
If times are modified it will most likely be by only a few minutes.

If, by any chance, we were unable to catch a train, I will offer a "city/park walk" from Châtelet to Bois de Vincennes.
If we haven’t met up at the platform, the meeting point will be in front of the canopy on the garden side, at the top of the elevators to Les Halles station and shopping center.

I hope to see you there,

Laurence

Hike for 11 April 2018

 Forêt de Marly  -   17-18 k

Dear Hikers,

Normally next Wednesday is not one of the strike days announced by the SNCF. Therefore I dare to propose a walk using the train, Line L from the Gare St. Lazare. We will walk 17/18 km in the Foret de Marly, starting and ending at the Gare de St. Nom La Breteche Foret de Marly. There are a few hills but nothing difficult, except for the mud, mud, glorious mud. (comme partout en ce moment). Weather permitting we will do a 3 km loop in Ste. Gemme and Feurcherolles after our picnic before heading back to the station..

Getting there:
Gare St. Lazare, train de banlieue /suburban train “SEBU”, line L, leaves St. Lazare at 9:09 and arrives at St. Nom La Breteche at 9:55 where I will be waiting for you. This train passes at La Defense at 9:22. Participants usually board the last train car leaving the station.
Return trains every 15":  15:50, 16:05, 16:20, etc.

As usual, you will need basic necessities of food and water, plus rain protection and your wonderful sense of humor.

See you on Wednesday!

Mary Lynne

________________________________

RER B to St Rémy is run by the RATP we should be fine, fingers crossed.
I suggest, if possible, that we all meet at Châtelet-Les Halles in case of train cancelation or problems accessing the train; we can catch the next trains in case of a problem with the first one.
Daniel will drive and meet up with us in St Rémy.

If, by any chance, we were unable to catch a train, I will offer a "city/park walk" from Châtelet to Bois de Vincennes.
In the event that we couldn’t even meet up at the platform, the meeting point will be in front of the canopy on the garden side at the top of the elevators to Les Halles station and shopping center. I will wait there until around 10am.
